2. Full Time Mechanic required in Maidenhead
Title: Mechanic and shop manager
Location: Maidenhead
Reporting to: Chair of Trustees
Salary: Dependant on experience and qualifications (see below)
Maidenhead Cycle Hub is an exciting new community cycle project, including a shop, which aims to promote cycling amongst local residents and provide routes into working in the cycle industry for local young people. We are seeking a full time mechanic to provide servicing to customers’ bikes and oversee the shop in Maidenhead town centre.
Roles and responsibilities
Overseeing the operation of a small community cycle shop and workshop including managing stock and ordering replenishment items
Provide all elements of servicing for customers’ bikes including gear and brake servicing, wheel truing, disc brakes and hub servicing
Refurbishing donated bikes and making them available to customers
Providing information and advice on local cycling opportunities, including local routes and rides
Ensure all customers enquiries are dealt with promptly and efficiently, including servicing estimates, actual servicing, bike safety checks.
Manage Apprentices working in the shop
Person spec
A Level 2 Cytech qualification or equivalent is highly desirable
A a passion for cycling and bicycles is a must
Experience of working with young people, in either professional or voluntary capacities
Line management or supervision responsibility would be an advantage
Be confident in a customer facing environment and be able to deal with customers promptly
Ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the project
Ability to prioritise and plan workload
Happy to be on their feet all day
An Enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate
Working hours
40 hours per week, to include most weekends April-September
Average salaries for bike mechanics are between £13,000 and £19,000 a year depending on experience and location
Specialist mechanics and head mechanics can earn up to £25,000 per year.

Cycle Tech High Wycombe are looking to recruit a qualified bike mechanic who – in addition to great mechanical skills – will thrive in a continuously customer focused environment.

To work full time from a mobile workshop on a self-employed/business owner basis. Large customer base, established over 9 years, with great earning and benefits of being part of our network of mobile bicycle mechanics.

Area - High Wycombe, Marlow, Great Missenden, Chesham, Amersham, Chalfonts, Marlow, Bournend.
Responsibilities will include bike building, PDI, service, repairs and ordering parts.
To succeed in the role you must enjoy a high level of interaction with the public. You will need to be highly self-motivated, neat & tidy, efficient and good humored.
A passion for, and knowledge of, all types of cycling will be a necessity and will be a distinct advantage.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the mobile workshop and the retail shop selling parts and accessories.
Working Saturdays will be required
